Is this pic free for commercial use or did Deccan Herald copy it? I sent a mail to DH but there wasn’t any reply. Can anyone point me to the flickr page for this?

Hello. The image you mention was on a Russian stock photo site. There are many variations of it on flickr and elsewhere (different children); evidently it is a very popular style of photography.

It can be assumed that DH had purchased the image from them with exclusive use rights which might explain why the full sized image is no longer on the site, only the thumbnail is accessible.
